Widmer Brothers and Deschutes Collaborate on AltBitter

Two of Oregon’s craft beer pioneers, Widmer Brothers Brewing and Deschutes Brewery, came together to brew a unique collaboration beer, AltBitter. The collaboration is part of a yearlong celebration of Widmer Brothers’ 30th Anniversary and an example of the great camaraderie in the Oregon craft brewing scene. AltBitter is inspired by two of the first recipes from each brewery and is available now in select markets across the country.

Sudwerk Announces 2015 Brewers Cut Membership

Only 50 spots are available for Sudwerk’s 2015 Brewers Cut, a club that guarantees access to its best barrel-aged beers. Membership opened to the public on Dec. 9. When the program debuted last year – after the holidays – it sold out in less than a month.

Founders to Re-Release Blushing Monk

Founders Brewing Co. will re-release Blushing Monk, a decadent Belgian raspberry ale, in March 2015 to mark the twelfth installment in the brewery’s popular Backstage Series. Blushing Monk was the original Founders Backstage Series beer, released in July 2011; prior to that, it hadn’t been bottled for four years. Like all of Founders’ Backstage Series beers, Blushing Monk will be sold in 750mL bottles, with a suggested retail price of $16.99 per bottle.

Avery Brewing Releases Spontanea and Einzigartig

This Sunday Avery Brewing Company is having a party in honor of No. 24 and No. 25 in their Barrel-Aged Series, Spontanea and Einzigartig. This is Avery’s second time to release grape-beer hybrids, a rare category that incorporates both malted barley and grape must. Oskar Blues Releases Pinner

Oskar Blues is adding PINNER Throwback IPA to the brewery’s year-round lineup of beers in 12-ounce CANs and on draft. PINNER will be released first in Oskar Blues’ home states of ColoRADo and North Carolina in mid-December. Coming in at 4.9 percent ABV and 35 IBUs, this primo dry-hopped brew will be easy to throw back. To put it bluntly, PINNER will be the lowest year-round ABV beer to blaze out of Oskar Blues’ brewhouses.

Ballast Point Partners with Wirtz Beverage in Wisconsin

Ballast Point and Wirtz Beverage announced today plans to expand its partnership into Wisconsin. The companies have distribution agreements in Minnesota, Nevada and Illinois. Wirtz Beverage will distribute the Ballast Point portfolio of craft spirits and beer beginning January 1.
