New Belgium Announces Distribution in Massachusetts in 2017

Massachusetts’ love affair with New Belgium will begin just in time for Valentine’s Day. The Fort Collins-based, bike-friendly brewery announced today that it will begin distribution throughout the Bay State starting February 13, 2017. (The company has a second production brewery located in Asheville, North Carolina.)

Upslope Brewing Company’s Christmas Ale will be placed under the tree just in time for the holidays this year. The Limited Release Belgian-style Dubbel—brewed with holiday spices—is currently available in canned, 12-ounce four packs at liquor stores across Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Montana, while supplies last.

Ex-Surly Employees to Open Barrel Theory Beer Company

Two more employees have left Minneapolis’ Surly Brewing Company, with their sights set on opening a brewery in St. Paul’s growing Lowertown neighborhood in 2017.

Brett Splinter, Surly’s former director of technology, and brewer Timmy Johnson have announced plans to open a 10-barrel brewhouse, a 90-seat tasting room and a 4,000 sq. ft. cellar dedicated to barrel-aging.

Angry Orchard Releases First American Collaboration Cider, Understood in Motion 01, with Eden Specialty Cider

Angry Orchard and Eden Specialty Cider today announced the release of Understood in Motion 01, a new collaboration cider born of friendship among two Northeast cider makers, as well as a shared commitment to raising awareness of the American cider industry. This cider is Angry Orchard’s first American collaboration. Additional Understood in Motionciders, named for the motion of apple harvest and the cider making process, are already in the works for next year.

This year’s line-up will include Bourbon Barrel-Aged CEO, Imperial CEO, Peanut Butter CEO, and Pumpkin Spice CEO, all brewed with real natural ingredients made in house, or locally sourced.

Mother Road Brewing Signs Lease on Second Brewing Facility

After five years making beer out of its downtown Flagstaff location, Mother Road Brewing Company is taking a major step to expand its operations. Last week, owners Michael and Alissa Marquess signed a lease on an 8,000-square-foot production facility about a mile east of the historic Mikes Pike brewery. This gives supporters a lot to celebrate for Mother Road’s 5th anniversary on November 17th.
