Newburyport Brewing announces today that its 1635 Series Barleywine won the Gold Medal in the “Strong Beer” category. Newburyport Pale Ale, Plum Island Belgian White, and the 1635 Series Saison each won Silver Medals in the categories of “American Pale Ale”, “Witbier”, and “Saison”, respectively. The 1635 Series Kölsch rounded out the awards with a Bronze Medal in the “Kölsch” category.
Accumulation White IPA returns to New Belgium Brewing’s winter lineup offering an alternative to traditional dark winter beers. Four bold hop varieties give Accumulation a tropical flavor with a nice, bitter balance. Nugget and Centennial hops along with a dry-hopping of Mosaic and Amarillo hops all combine to create Accumulation, which pours a pale, hazy golden color with a medium body. It comes in at 6.2 percent ABV and 70 IBUs.
3 Sheeps Brewing Co. announces plans to increase production and distribution of award-winning locally-produced craft beer. The brewery will lease the former Coca-Cola Distribution Plant located at 1837 North Avenue. The existing two buildings, totaling 40,000 square-feet set on 3.4 acres, will be refurbished into a brewing campus with new equipment, taproom and outdoor beer garden. With the expansion, the brewery will increase production, expand distribution, feature experimental beers, and better connect with the craft beer community.
Woodchuck Hard Cider is excited to announce the release of their newest Out on a Limb cider, Hot Cha Cha Cha. At last, a brewery based in the East will expand its brewing capabilities out West. Atlanta’s Sweetwater Brewing said it plans to build a secondary brewing facility in the Pacific Time zone by 2017 and, although it hasn’t decided on a final location, the company has identified California as a potential landing place.
Black IPAs have been a staple of an annual tradition at Founders Brewing Co. – the Black Party – a celebration of experimental dark beers. Project PAM was born out of this tradition and is the third Backstage release of 2015; a Black IPA whose hop combinations and malts have been perfected and balanced over several years. This beer is brewed with a cornucopia of hops including Chinook, Nugget, Centennial, Amarillo, El Dorado and Mosaic, balanced with Crystal and Midnight Wheat malts, then aged in maple-bourbon barrels.
Green Man Brewery is expanding its distribution South once again, taking on the entire state of Florida. The craft beer pioneer in Asheville, North Carolina has been steadily ramping up distribution since its second expansion in 2012, starting with North Carolina and spreading out to Tennessee and South Carolina. Green Man opened its fourth distribution state in August starting with Daytona Beach with a partnership with Perrott Distributing Co., and is rolling out the rest of the state by signing on with six additional distributors in the beginning of December.
