3 Sheeps Brewing to Relocate, Expand Production

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – 3 Sheeps Brewing Co. announces plans to increase production and distribution of award-winning locally-produced craft beer. The brewery will lease the former Coca-Cola Distribution Plant located at 1837 North Avenue. The existing two buildings, totaling 40,000 square-feet set on 3.4 acres, will be refurbished into a brewing campus with new equipment, taproom and outdoor beer garden. With the expansion, the brewery will increase production, expand distribution, feature experimental beers, and better connect with the craft beer community.

“This expansion allows us to grow the business and meet our current demands while creating a destination for beer enthusiasts to enjoy our distinctive beers. We have been pushing the limit of our capacity in our current facility. In order to continue to take care of our current markets we needed to take this next step,” said 3 Sheeps Brewing Co. Founder & Brewmaster Grant Pauly.

3 Sheeps Brewing Co. will expand distribution into new markets. In response to requests from distributors throughout the United States, the brewery will begin strategically selecting new territories in the coming years. Currently the brewery distributes to cities throughout Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota.

“We have been very adamant in our belief not to expand our reach at the expense of our customers that have been with us from the beginning. This expansion allows us to do both,” said Pauly.

To meet these demands, the new site will house new equipment for both brewing and bottling. Production capabilities will increase from 28 barrels to 200 barrels per day, requiring a substantial increase in workforce. The proposed expansion plan will create at least fifteen jobs in the community more than tripling their staff over the next three years.

Renovation of the property will begin in December 2015 with plans to open in early 2016. The facility will be divided between the two buildings on the property. The larger of the two buildings will house the newly acquired brewhouse, as well as tanks, packaging equipment and offices. The second building will be transformed into the barrel aging warehouse and taproom. The increased size will allow the brewery to place an emphasis on their barrel aging program and create an isolated area for the controlled fermentation of the sour beers – a new venture for the brewery.

Nestled amongst the barrels will be the brewery’s first taproom offering year round, limited release and experimental beers on tap for in-house consumption. Customers will also be able to purchase beer in to-go growlers and bottles. As the weather warms, the brewery plans to build out a substantial outdoor beer garden connecting to the taproom.

“We’re incredibly eager to have our own space to host fans of our beer, for locals and visitors,” said 3 Sheeps Brewing Co. co-owner James Owen.

This project is in partnership with The City of Sheboygan, Investors Community Bank of Manitowoc, Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation, Sheboygan Redevelopment Authority and the Small Business Administration.

“Compliments to the City of Sheboygan and the Sheboygan Redevelopment Authority who through their efforts are nurturing the continued growth of a local company, where it is poised to create another 15 jobs over the next few years,” said Dane Checolinski, Director of Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation.
