Legalized marijuana is burning the craft beer business, according to Vivien Azer, Cowen and Company’s managing director and senior research analyst specializing in the beverage, tobacco and cannabis sectors. Speaking at the Brewbound Session today, Azer’s was just one of several voices that discussed a craft beer business that has experienced a decade of wild growth but has slowed in the past 18 months.
Saucey, the premier alcohol delivery e-commerce company, today announced its partnership with retail giant Bevmo!. Under the terms of the partnership, Saucey will be the preferred delivery partner for beer, wine, spirits, mixers and more. Bevmo! customers in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Sacramento (as of Monday Nov 28th) can now order thousands of items from every beverage category and have it delivered in under an hour. Saucey also announced that Alan Johnson, former CEO of Bevmo!, and Patrick Steele, former CIO of Albertsons, have joined its Board of Directors. Both Steele and Johnson bring years of experience to Saucey and will work with the executive team to expand Saucey’s offerings and dominance in the space.

Three months after departing Duvel USA, beer industry veteran Simon Thorpe has been tapped as the new CEO of Pabst Brewing Company. Thorpe — whose career also includes stints with InBev, Crayola, Kellogg’s, Tambrands and Unilever — will take over the CEO position from Eugene Kashper, who will continue to serve as a principal owner and the full-time chairman of the Pabst board.

As Perrin Brewing continues to rapidly grow within its home state of Michigan and throughout the United States, they’re thrilled to announce distribution in the Florida market beginning in February with the launch of a specialty collaboration brew. To kick off this new launch, Perrin has invited their fellow brewery partners at Oskar Blues Brewery and Cigar City Brewing to create a one-time batch of an Imperial Oatmeal Stout, “Triangulation”. This collaboration will take place on December 1st.
