The first major piece of RNDC’s territory fire sale is now complete. Reyes’ mega deal for 11 RNDC markets closed at the end of business on Friday, adding 38 million cases to its more than 360-million-case business.
More dominos continue to fall as RNDC’s territory sell off continues. Leaders with Manhattan Beer & Beverage Distributors announced an agreement to acquire “distribution rights for a collection of wine and spirits brands” from RNDC’s New York joint venture with Opici Family Distributing.
Bell’s Brewery is marching toward a national distribution footprint. The Michigan-based brewery yesterday announced plans to expand distribution to the craft beer soaked state of Colorado. In a press release, the company said it had signed with six wholesalers for coverage throughout Colorado beginning this fall.
Fans of Devil’s Purse Brewing Company who live in Connecticut can now grab a four-pack at their favorite craft beer store or hoist a refreshing pint at a local pub. The Cape Cod-based Devil’s Purse recently signed a state-wide agreement with Star Distributing, Inc., located in West Haven.

Constellation Brands reported its first-quarter fiscal 2019 earnings today, which were highlighted by 8.9 percent growth in beer depletions (sales-to-retailers) and an 8.6 percent increase in shipments compared to the three-month period in 2017. Less than a year after opening a $50 million U.S. production facility, Scottish craft beer makers BrewDog have embarked on a $10 million crowdfunding campaign to fund its U.S. expansion plans. BrewDog announced the campaign last week in a video in which founders James Watt and Martin Dickie drop stuffed cats from a helicopter on Wall Street in order to “openly mock the caricature of the Wall Street fat cat banker.”
At the urging of Constellation Brands, California’s Markstein Beverage Co. has sold the beer company’s distribution rights in northern San Diego County to Reyes Beverage Group for an undisclosed sum. In a memo to employees issued on Wednesday, Markstein Beverage president Travis Markstein announced that Constellation Brands had informed the San Marcos-based wholesaler in late April of plans to terminate their 23-year partnership.
