Hi-Wire’s South Slope Specialty Brewery is currently transitioning from brewing a wide variety of one-time-release ales and lagers to brewing exclusively sour and wild beers. Although this shift will not change Hi-Wire’s core lineup of beers, it will make the company one of the nation’s only breweries to have a specialty program that revolves around both craft lagers and sour beers.

Six months after promoting then-CFO Kim Jones to CEO, Sweetwater Brewing and the former executive have parted ways, Brewbound has learned. Tucker Berta Sarkisian, a spokeswoman with Sweetwater, confirmed Jones’ departure, saying only that she had moved on. In a separate but related move, Sweetwater has also hired Paul “PK” Kirbabas, the current director of sales administration for Georgia’s United Distributors

Coronado Brewing to Release Sock Knocker IPA

Coronado Brewing Company is set to release fan-favorite Sock Knocker IPA in February as a part of the brewery’s Crown Series. Craft drinkers have now come to anticipate this beer’s annual release, but this year the company plans to switch things up. Coronado Brewing will be releasing the beer for the first time in six-packs as part of its spring seasonal release program, stretching February to April.

While craft brewers in Georgia and Mississippi appeal to local officials for updated industry regulations, the state’s example is one that some hope will serve the rest of the South.

Braxton Brewing Expands Can Package Distribution, Portfolio

You will soon be able to enjoy Braxton Brewing Co.’s canned beers in Cincinnati. After initially launching Storm Golden Cream Ale 12 oz. cans in Northern Kentucky retailers in November, the Covington-based brewery is now expanding distribution into the Cincinnati market. In addition, Crank Shaft IPA will be available in cans in both Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati. Crank Shaft cans and expanded distribution will launch in late February.
