To Celebrate House Bill 37, BrewDog to Brew 55 Percent ABV Beer in Ohio

Irreverent Scottish brewer, BrewDog is introducing its infamous 55 percent alcohol by volume (ABV) brew, The End of History, to the U.S. market at a key moment for the craft beer industry. Ohio House Bill 37 went into effect this week, removing the 12 percent ABV limit on beers both made and sold in the state where BrewDog is establishing its U.S. brewery later this year. BrewDog is celebrating this historic limit lift in its hallmark irreverent fashion by sharing the record-breaking brew as an exclusive perk to investors that pledge $20,000 or more to its unique Equity for Punks USA crowdfunding model.

Stevens Point Brewery Releases Oktoberfest

Point Oktoberfest is back again to deliver the authentic taste of Munich’s world-famous beer festival wherever Point beers are sold. For the first time, Point Oktoberfest will be available in 16-ounce cans — a convenient companion for fun fall activities. Point Oktoberfest is also available in 6-pack bottles, 12-pack bottles, 12-pack 12-ounce cans, and on tap.

Big Storm Brewing to Release Oktoberfest Seasonal Offering

Big Storm Brewing Co. announces plans to celebrate the Oktoberfest season. Awarded a gold medal and the title of Best of Show at the “Best Florida Beer Championships,” the seasonal Märzen Lager called, “Oktoberfest” will be officially “tapped” at both Big Storm Brewing Co. locations on Sept. 2 and available in wider distribution by mid-September. The month of September also marks the release of Big Storm Oktoberfest in cans, which will be available in six packs and 24 packs in retailers throughout Florida.

Anchor Brewing Company Extends Partnership with California State Parks Foundation

In a continued effort to preserve and protect California’s natural heritage, Anchor Brewing Company launches a membership drive for the California State Parks Foundation (CSPF). In February of 2013, Anchor Brewing initiated a partnership with CSPF in conjunction with the release of Anchor California Lager®. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Anchor California Lager supports conservation projects in California State Parks that help enrich the state’s innate natural beauty. In the past year, Anchor Brewing has funded three important grants distributed by California State Parks Foundation.

Crooked Run Brewing to Open Second Location

Crooked Run Brewing, a small brewery and tasting room in Leesburg, will open a second ten-barrel brewery and tasting room at 22455 Davis Drive in Sterling in early 2017. The new location will allow Crooked Run to brew bigger batches of its classic beers, to continue developing new styles, and to begin distribution.

Straight To Ale Brewing Launches New Brew for Whole Foods Market

Straight To Ale Brewing has teamed up with Whole Foods Market South Region to introduce a new line of experimental brews called Rumble Seat Beer Project. The first iteration of Rumble Seat Beer Project includes an India Pale Ale, a Citrus Witte, and an Imperial Red. All three beers were brewed exclusively for Whole Foods Market by Straight To Ale and will hit shelves Labor Day weekend across the Southeast in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Fremont Brewing Launches Field to Ferment Fresh Hop Pale Ale

Fremont Brewing of Seattle, Washington will launch a new Fall seasonal called Field to Ferment Fresh Hop Pale Ale. Fremont will brew this fresh hop ale throughout the entire hop harvest in Yakima, using four individual hop varieties as they are harvested. The first release will feature the early harvest Centennial hops from Carpenter Ranches and will be released at its freshest in the first week of September. Subsequent single fresh hop brews will be produced with different hop varieties according to the order of their harvest: Simcoe, Citra, and finally Mosaic. Field to Ferment will be available through September.

Portland Brewing’s Noble Scot Returns

Portland Brewing’s Scottish Festival is back again to launch fall seasonal Noble Scot Ale. The family-friendly affair features traditional Scottish dance, bagpipe performances, highland games, face painting, a photo booth, live music from local Celtic fusion band, Beltaine, and of course, Portland Brewing’s Noble Scot Ale. The outdoor celebration is free to attend and all ages are welcome. This year, Celtic music media company, 67 music, will be emceeing the event.

Brewers of Pennsylvania to Host Mid-Atlantic Brewers’ Symposium

The Brewers of Pennsylvania (BOP), the state’s official brewers guild, will host the second annual Mid-Atlantic Brewers’ Symposium, which will feature a keynote address from Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) Chairman, Tim Holden. The important one-day event on Friday, September 30 will feature ten 45 minute seminars from leaders of the craft brewing industry. The Mid-Atlantic Brewers’ Symposium will take place at the Artsquest Center at Steel Stacks in Bethlehem, Pa.
