The National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) is seeking nominations for the Second Annual Brewer Partner of the Year Award. The award recognizes the brewer who does the best job producing great beer; building strong partnerships; providing valuable education; and offering support to their distributor customers in order to grow their brands and get their beers to market. The award will be presented during NBWA’s 79th Annual Convention, September 25-28, 2016, in Chicago, Illinois.
One of the most popular and highly rated breweries on the west coast is finally coming to Pittsburgh. Knee Deep Brewing’s brews have received several awards; most notably their Hoptologist DIPA took the Gold Medal in 2013 at The Bistro 14th Annual DIPA Festival. Knee Deep was founded in Nevada in June 2010 by brewmaster Jeremy Warren. Fast forward to 2015, Knee Deep beers are now brewed in their new 28,000 square foot facility in Auburn, CA.
To kick off its 30th Anniversary of brewing award winning beers, Capital Brewery Co., Inc. is releasing a small batch of coffee and vanilla infused Garten Brau Munich Dark. This collaboration combines Colectivo Coffee with Capital’s most award winning beer, which just happens to be one of the first beers brewed by Capital in the spring of 1986.
As Hi-Wire Brewing transitions their original Downtown Asheville brewery into a sour and wild ale facility to officially launch later this summer, they announce the release of a new, different line of limited specialty beers which they are calling the Single Barrel Series.
The Lost Abbey is set to release the 17th edition in its Veritas line of beers, with the on-sale beginning on Thursday, March 24th at Noon (PST). Veritas has been an ongoing experiment of the relationship between fruit, Brettanomyces and barrel aging.
Today Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB) announced the addition of a new beer to their year-round lineup. Gear Up IPA, a Northwest-Style IPA with an ultra-tropical hop profile, represents HUB’s first 12 oz. six-pack can. Six-packs release in mid-April throughout HUB’s distribution channels in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Utah and western Canada. The beer is currently available as a popular draft offering at both Hopworks brewpubs and at craft beer bars in Oregon and Washington.
Our Mutual Friend Brewing Company, who assisted in coordinating and hosting the Denver Beers Made By Walking festival in 2015, will be releasing a Beers Made By Walking cross-country collaboration beer for Collaboration Fest in conjunction with Fullsteam Brewery (Durham, NC), Scratch Brewing Company (Ava, IL) and Hopworks Urban Brewery (Portland, OR).
Cigar City, a leading independent brewery based in Tampa, Fla., has agreed to sell controlling interest to Boston-based private equity firm Fireman Capital Partners, which already owns majority stakes in Oskar Blues, Perrin Brewing and the Utah Brewers Cooperative outfit that includes the Wasatch and Squatters brands. Together, the five craft breweries make up what the firm calls United Craft Brews LLC., a holding company and special purpose fund set up specifically for craft brewery acquisitions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed and the transaction is expected to close within the next 90 days.

Atlanta’s Second Self Beer Company has brought back its seasonal Citrus IPA. This beer has everything you need to get excited for spring. It’s brewed with citrusy hops (Columbus, Amarillo, Citra), lemon, orange, and grapefuit peel, then dry-hopped with more Amarillo for added hoppy citrus punch. The aroma is sweet, yet the taste is dry with a great robust IPA finish.

At its York, Pennsylvania, headquarters, Westfalia recently completed the development of a multi-million dollar test facility. This facility allows the company to test improvements and new software user interfaces to better its solutions and to stay at the forefront of the technology. It will also serve as a training facility to provide customers with hands-on, improved training on using an automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS).

The pay-to-play saga continues in Massachusetts. 10 days after agreeing to pay a $2.6 million fine for violating state laws that prohibit unfair trade practices and illegal pay-to-play activities, the Craft Beer Guild of Massachusetts, which also does business as Craft Brewers Guild, has filed a complaint with the state’s Suffolk County Superior Court.
