Sweetwater Expands Distribution in 4 Existing States

Sweetwater Brewing Company today announced plans to expand distribution into a number of new markets. Beginning this month, the Atlanta-based craft brewery will enter five new markets in Tennessee, six additional counties in Ohio and two new regions of Virginia. Sweetwater will also broaden its reach in New Jersey next month when it adds distribution on the Jersey Shore via Shore Point Distributing Company.

The bees involved in making honey for Saint Arnold Brewing Co.’s latest creation deserve frequent flyer miles. The oldest craft brewery in Texas (www.saintarnold.com) is rolling out Saint Arnold Icon Gold – Honey Saison made with Texas Wildflower Honey from Burleson’s Honey in Waxahachie, Texas. Data from the National Honey Board indicates the bees flew a total of 44 million miles to provide the 800 pounds of honey in each batch of Saint Arnold Icon Gold – Honey Saison.

Cicerone Certification Program Announces Results of First Asian Certified Cicerone Exams

The Cicerone Certification Program today announced results of the first Certified Cicerone® exam held in South Korea. This exam, held April 28, was the first given in Asia by the program, known globally as the certification standard for beer professionals. Twelve candidates took the exam in Seoul; four individuals achieved a passing score.

Federal Judge Dismisses Blue Moon Suit

It took about 14 months, but a California judge has finally tossed aside a class action lawsuit against MillerCoors LLC that alleged the beer company was deceptively brewing and marketing its Blue Moon Brewing line of craft products. U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel granted MillerCoors’ motion to dismiss the case after the company argued that Evan Parent, a homebrewer, beer aficionado and plaintiff listed in the suit, was unsuccessful in demonstrating that MillerCoors had misled consumers through its advertising and positioning of Blue Moon as a craft beer.
