Lucky Envelope to Release Year of the Monkey Porter

Lucky Envelope Brewing, whose founders are of Chinese descent, will celebrate the Lunar New Year next month with its first-ever bottle offering, the “Year of the Monkey Ale”. The award-winning Seattle brewery, which opened its tasting room in the Ballard neighborhood last spring, will also decorate its location with traditional adornments and provide educational materials about the annual holiday celebrated by hundreds of millions, worldwide.

Alabama Law Institute Drafts Bill Supporting Small Brewers

Congressional leaders in Alabama have nearly finished writing a bill that will change many of the state’s Prohibition-era laws, advancing the cause of craft brewers in the state. Particularly notable, leaders say, is that Alabama lawmakers managed to bring together representatives from all three tiers to propose the changes. While craft brewers in Georgia and Mississippi appeal to local officials for updated industry regulations, the state’s example is one that some hope will serve the rest of the South.

Braxton Brewing Expands Can Package Distribution, Portfolio

You will soon be able to enjoy Braxton Brewing Co.’s canned beers in Cincinnati. After initially launching Storm Golden Cream Ale 12 oz. cans in Northern Kentucky retailers in November, the Covington-based brewery is now expanding distribution into the Cincinnati market. In addition, Crank Shaft IPA will be available in cans in both Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati. Crank Shaft cans and expanded distribution will launch in late February.

SteadyServ Technologies, the first data-as-a-service company for the draft beer market, today announces the addition of Meagen Anderson to the company’s executive team as its new vice president of global sales. Anderson will drive new business initiatives and sales strategy for the company, with the goal of widening SteadyServ’s customer base for its patented data platform.

Rochester Mills to Release Newton’s ALEchemy Double IPA

Rochester Mills Beer Co. & Rochester Mills Production Brewery are doing their part to snap the winter blues by announcing the 2016 limited seasonal release of Newton’s ALEchemy DIPA (8.8% ABV, 88 IBUs), an American Double India Pale Ale set for February 1st. Newton’s ALEchemy was first introduced in January of 2015 as a small batch release on draft only. Due to the popularity of the beer, this year’s brew will be available for enjoyment across Rochester Mills’ full distribution network on draft and now in 4 packs of 16 oz. cans for consumer’s convenience.

Portland Cider Company Moves to New Location

The Portland Cider Company today announced it is moving its cider production facility to a new, larger location in Clackamas in order to meet the growing demand for its cider products. The company is investing approximately $1 million to increase the size of its operation ten fold, according to Jeff Parrish, Portland Cider Company owner and master ciderist.

Hoping to update state laws governing the sale of alcohol, the Mississippi Brewers Guild is in the final stages of drafting a retail sales bill that, if passed, would greenlight direct-to-consumer sales for small brewers. Though unfinished, the proposed piece of legislation, which doesn’t yet have a sponsor, seeks to “create awareness and provide opportunities” for the small set of Mississippi craft brewers who produce less than one percent of all the beer sold in-state.

Odell Brewing Releases Winter-Spring Montage Variety Pack

This January, Odell Brewing will celebrate the return of their Winter-Spring Montage Variety Pack series. Each Montage Variety Pack includes two year round offerings, the current seasonal release, as well as a special Roots Release beer inspired by the brewery’s five barrel pilot system. The Winter-Spring Montage features 90 Shilling, IPA, Runoff Red IPA, and Wolf Picker.

Founders to Release Mango Magnifico Fruit Ale

Founders announced today that it will release Mango Magnifico con Calor, a fruit beer brewed with mango and a touch of habaneros, as the first Backstage Series beer of 2016. This is the second time Founders has released Mango Magnifico in bottles as part of the Backstage Series, the first being in June of 2013.
