The Ohio Craft Brewers Association announced today that it has appointed Justin Hemminger to the position of communications manager. As the market for Ohio-made craft beer continues to expand, this position was created to serve and promote the association’s rapidly growing membership. Currently, the association represents 129 active brewery members, up from 32 in May of 2013.
For the first time in more than a decade the craft beer category failed to grow double-digits, according to new data from market research firm IRI Worldwide. In its latest report, IRI noted that craft dollar sales at U.S. supermarkets grew just 6.9 percent in 2016, to more than $2.28 billion, while volume sales grew at an even slower 4 percent clip.
Iron Heart Canning Co. is once again expanding its budding aluminum empire. The New Hampshire-based mobile canning company today announced the acquisition of Asheville, North Carolina’s Land of the Sky Mobile Canning. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
This week, Block 15 Brewing Company releases The Prophecies, the latest in its Seasonal Bottle Conditioned Series. This Belgian-style Quadrupel Ale will be available bottled and on tap from the New Year through early spring—with distribution to bottle shops and tap houses around Oregon and parts of Washington. Artfully bottle conditioned using Block 15’s custom-fabricated mixing tank, The Prophecies is designed to be enjoyed both freshly bottled and cellared.
Today, the first beers of 2017 from The Bruery and Bruery Terreux were released to Hoarders Society, Reserve Society and Preservation Society members. It’s the first round of allocations to 2017 members, including Society exclusive beers and brands that will see national release.
