Lone River Ranch Water Expands Into 21 States, Releases Variety Pack Featuring New Prickly Pear Flavor

Lone River Ranch Water announced the expansion of their distribution in 21 states this summer.

Starting May 6, the ranch water line will be available across Arizona, Alabama, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, and the Florida panhandle. An additional 12 states will be added by early June, according to a press release.

Although Lone River declined to divulge the remaining 12 new markets, a spokesperson told Brewbound they plan to close out most of the south this year and make their way into the Midwest. The brand is already distributed in Texas and Tennessee.

The expansion comes two months after the acquisition of Lone River by the Diageo Beer Company. Lone River told Brewbound they will align with Diageo’s distribution network as they open in these new states, while continuing to work with unaligned distributors in their existing markets.

“The past year has been a wild ride. We launched Lone River in a time of great uncertainty that required a lot of grit and determination from our small team to succeed,” Lone River founder and CEO Katie Beal Brown said in the release. “I poured my heart into building a brand that celebrates the culture around ranch water, and I’m humbled to see how much that brand now resonates with consumers far beyond Texas. This expansion is one of many exciting projects up our sleeve for 2021.”

Beal Brown, who retained a minority share in the company following the acquisition, remains the CEO of the brand. A native Texan, Beal Brown modeled Lone River Ranch Water after the popular Texas cocktail of the same name — tequila, soda water (typically Topo Chico mineral water), simple syrup and lime

With the expansion, Lone River will release a new variety 12-pack, featuring the brand’s original three agave-centric flavors — Original, Spicy, and Rio Red Grapefruit (80 calories, 4% ABV) — as well as a new flavor: Prickly Pear. The company will also debut 19.2 oz. Original cans.

Lone River has steadily increased its share of the $4.1 billion hard seltzer segment in 2021, reaching a 3.8% share in Texas. They recently ranked in the top five craft hard seltzer brands in sales on e-commerce on-demand alcohol delivery platform Drizly.

Beal Brown will join a panel discussion on the evolving beyond beer space on Thursday, May 13 at 3 p.m. ET during Brewbound’s first installment of its Brew Talks series in 2021, presented by Dogfish Head. Registration for the virtual beer business meet up is free.
