The National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) will hold its 78th Annual Convention and Trade Show October 11 – 14, 2015, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the general session on Monday, October 12, Vice President of Atlas Sales, Inc. Bud Dunn will moderate a panel including: Jay Ducote, Food Network Star Finalist and Founder, Bite and Booze; Daniel “D.H.” Harrison, Co-Owner and General Manager, Country Boy Brewing; Ryan Lake, Vice President, First Beverage Group; Kurt Strickmaker, President and Better Beer Guy, BountyBev.
New to this year’s Great American Beer Festival (Denver, CO) is the 30,000 square feet of hall space dedicated to the special “Meet the Brewer” section featuring Shmaltz Brewing Company and upwards of 100 additional breweries. Each brewery’s booth will be staffed entirely and exclusively by its employees (no volunteers). Passionate beer fans will have a chance to talk shop with the brewers and employees themselves who’re making all the magic happen.
Big Bad Baptist will be released on October 1st and will arrive on retail shelves throughout the month. It will be available early in Denver at The Great American Beer Festival and in the Epic Brewing Taproom. It will also be on draught in Denver the week of September 21st at Paramount Café, World of Beer – Cherry Creek, Henry’s Tavern, Chiba Hut, and Hard Rock Café. Today the Colorado Brewers Guild (CBG) launched an extensive get-out-the-vote campaign throughout the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) community for the Hop the Vote competition. Hop the Vote is a spirited but friendly brewing competition held between the Colorado State House of Representatives and Colorado State Senators.
On Monday, the Dallas-based brewery filed a lawsuit against the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC), challenging the constitutionality of a state law that prohibits licensed breweries from selling beer to go from the point of production. Currently, wineries, distilleries, and even brewpub restaurants can legally sell their wares for off-premise consumption.

As reported earlier today, A-B InBev has, after years of rumors, explicitly stated its intention to merge with SABMiller. Such a transaction would effectively consolidate one-third of the world’s beer supply under a single manufacturer’s umbrella.
Anheuser-Busch InBev’s long-rumored takeover of SABMiller is underway. In a statement, the world’s largest beer company confirmed Wednesday that it had approached SABMiller, the world’s second largest beer company, about a “combination” of the two companies.
