Following in this anything-goes tradition is Brewer James Birnie’s first Unchained Series beer, a highly carbonated, tart, and refreshing Belgian-style saison. Perfectly suited to usher in the spring season,Unchained 24: Spring Saison and its herbal, spicy, and peppery flavors and aromas will arrive on draught and in 6-packs of 12-ounce cans during the first week of March.

Blending a number of New Zealand hops with new and experimental varieties from the U.S. and Germany, Double IPA is supported by a heritage barley variety and offers up a toasted malt background.

There’s bad blood brewing in Minnesota. Summit Brewing Company is suing two former employees, accusing them “of conspiring to sell the company’s confidential trade secrets to high-level executives for ‘a direct competitor,’” according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Summit Brewing Company announces the release of 30th Anniversary English-Style Barleywine Ale, the fourth and final entry in their 30th Anniversary Series. The beer will be officially released at the Summit Beer Hall on Saturday, November 19. It will also be available in 4-packs of 12 oz bottles and in a limited amount of draught starting the week of November 14.

The beer will be released at a Summit 30th Anniversary Celebration from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7 at Brit’s Pub in downtown Minneapolis.

Summit Brewing today announced it has hired former J.J. Taylor Minnesota president Mike Bamonti as its new chief sales officer. Prior to joining Summit, Bamonti served as J.J. Taylor’s general manager for 12 years and helped oversee that company’s acquisitions of Day Distributing Co. in 2015 and Chisago Lakes Distributing in 2012.

Summit Brewing Company today announces the release of Sticke Alt: Düsselfdorf Style Ale. The 20th beer in the limited release Unchained Series will be available on draught and in 12oz bottle 6-packs the second week of October. Sticke Alt, a maltier and hoppier version of a traditional Altbier, is commonly offered in secret in Düsselfdorf, Germany each year and passed around by word of mouth to the brewer’s loyal patrons.
