Gorangutang is an alternative, hip-hop didgeridoo duo with fusions of EMD, rap and funk.

Gorangutang is the musical collaboration of Tra’zae Lewis Clinton (grandson to Parliament Funkadelic’s legendary George Clinton ) and William Thoren, a Los Angeled-based musician. The duo creates a hybrid of musical styles that spans many genres and fuses multi-drone didgeridoo, handcrafted by Thoren, with primal funk, hip-hop, and electronica. Tra’zae is a multi-instrumentalist with a focus on keyboard and a prolific producer of various musical styles. Being the grandson of funk legend George Clinton, he learned to rhyme before he could speak. William is an LA based didgeridoo crafter, performer, and owner of Wet Didgeridoo. He is best known for inventing the multi-drone didgeridoo, which expands the instrument’s playable range to work more dynamically within contemporary music.

They first met in Berlin, Germany during the 2011 George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic tour. It was Thanksgiving Day and the first time either had traveled with P-Funk outside of the USA. Ironically, less than a year from the Thanksgiving meeting they ended up cutting their first song together: “Yam” feat. George Clinton.
