Musical Robots! Original Gravity’s Third Season opener brings an array of Musical Robots to Mystic.

Original Gravity’s Third Season opener welcomes an array of Musical Robots to Mystic Brewery in Chelsea, MA on Friday, June 17th at 7:30pm. The mechanical instrumentalist creations of robotic mastermind Scott Barton, Assistant Professor of Music at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, will perform alongside human musicians in both composed pieces and structured improvisation. The evening will be a battleground where human creativity and responsiveness is pitted against the extensibility of the machines we create, begging the question: Who is ultimately in control—Human or Robot?

Mystic Brewery will release a unique artisanal gruit called Water, Rhythm, Light based upon the exciting robotic music of Scott Barton, featured in this concert. The never-before-tasted gruit (6.2% AbV) bursts with a bevvy of botanicals: hibiscus, lavender and damiana; It's nature's antidote to the synthetic insistence of technological overload, striking balanced, perfect counterpoint to the musical extravaganza.

Also showcased will be works by local composers:
* Dan Tramte: “Corse Mode” for electronics-enhanced Morse Code straight key machine
* Dan VanHassel: A World Premier of “Pivot” for viola and computer
* David Ibbett: “Islands” for cello and digital sounds—our 2016 Call-for-Scores winner!
