La Jolla Brewing Partners Launch New Contract Venture

The founding partners of La Jolla Brewing, a small brewpub in the San Diego area, are gearing up to launch a new contract brewing venture in the city. Slated to open in December, Fighter Town Brewing LLC plans to work with and provide capacity to local, national, and international breweries that are short on space and high on demand.

This weekend Reuben’s Brews was named Mid-Sized Brewery of the Year at the 2015 Washington Beer Awards. Out of over 700 entries, Reuben’s won Gold Medals for their Foreign Export Stout, Robust Porter, and Black Imperial IPA, and Silver Medals for their Cream Ale and Marzen – the first lager the brewery has ever brewed.

Heineken USA Hires Former Coca-Cola VP to Lead National Accounts Team

HEINEKEN USA has hired Bridget Lasda, former vice president of sales for the Coca-Cola Company, as vice president of National Accounts. Lasda will join the Company on July 27. Lasda had been with Coca-Cola for 13 years, most recently as head of the Target account. Previously, she held leadership roles in operations, sales and category development, serving as vice president of Category Commercialization for Coca-Cola’s Water, Tea, Coffee and Venturing & Emerging brands.

Crystal Lake Brewing Expands with New Canning Line

Having opened its doors less than a year ago, Crystal Lake Brewing is pleased to announce that it has completed the launch of a brand new, state-of-the-art canning line at its beer production facility in Crystal Lake, IL. Built and installed by Wild Goose Canning of Boulder Colorado, the line is capable of packaging well over 60 cases of beer per hour, allowing CLB to offer its four year-round flagship beers in consumer-friendly 6-packs.

Last Call: Northwest Hops Acreage at Record Highs

Northwest hop acreage increased 16 percent in 2015, as nearly 44,000 acres have been strung for harvest across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Broken down by state, Washington strung 32,205 acres for harvest this year, accounting for 73 percent of total hops acreage across the United States.

Pabst Taking ‘Not Your Father’s Root Beer’ National

Just in time for Father’s Day, Illinois-based Small Town Brewery today announced the nationwide rollout of its signature Not Your Father’s Root Beer line of soda-inspired beers. In a press statement, the company said it signed a distribution agreement with Pabst Brewing Company, which began selling the product earlier this year. Specific terms of the arrangement were not disclosed and representatives from both Pabst and Small Town Brewery were unavailable for comment.
