Hundreds of brewers flocked to Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. last month in an effort to update the federal beer excise tax. Although most of the brewers were in town for the Craft Brewers Conference, they didn’t waste an opportunity to voice their opinions to legislators. The country’s fifth-largest craft brewer, Deschutes Brewery, today announced that it has made its first contribution to a newly established of Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP). The fund will allow those employees who are not part of the management team to benefit economically from building value in the company, said Deschutes CFO Peter Skrbek.
