A special beer for a special cause. Maui Brewing Co. is releasing Lorenzini Double IPA as its winter seasonal release. The name comes from the sharks “Ampullae of Lorenzini”, the shark’s electro sensory organ used to detect changes in electric fields.

Left Hand Brewing Co. raised $490,265 for the community in 2014. In the last 3 years, amidst much growth activity including increasing volume (41% bbl removed increase since 2012), 5 new market entrances, and earning international honors at the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival, Left Hand Brewing has provided over $1.2 Million for the community since 2012 in funds and in-kind donations.

Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider Appoints New Production Manager

Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider, the fastest growing cider company in Portland, Oregon, has appointed Steve Panos as Production Manager. In this capacity, Panos will oversee the entire production staff as the cidery continues through a rapid expansion. He will report directly to cidery founder Nat West.

New Belgium Starts Hiring for East Coast Brewery and Distribution Center

New Belgium Brewing will kick off their Asheville hiring phase at Asheville’s 9th Annual Homecoming Job Fair on January 7, 2015. The company will hire about 50 full-time positions with benefits for their Asheville location throughout 2015, and at full build out their east coast digs will be home to approximately 140 full time coworkers. Additional sales positions will be hired in cities along the eastern seaboard as they expand.

Surly Brewing’s new $34 million facility in Minneapolis will be fully operational within a couple weeks, pending the installation of its packaging equipment, according to a report from MPR News. The facility, the article adds, will enable the Minnesota-based brewery to quadruple capacity from 42,000 barrels per year. Additionally, the new brewery will feature a restaurant that has room for 90 people, a main beer hall that seats 216 more, and an event center.

Kansas City Wholesaler Sells 1 Million Cases of Boulevard in 2014

Central States Beverage Co. has announced year-end sales of 1 million cases of Boulevard beers throughout the greater Kansas City area alone, the most ever by one of the brewery’s distributors in one year. The MillerCoors-affiliated wholesaler has more than doubled sales of the Boulevard brand since first acquiring it in 2007, when it launched with sales of 497,000 cases. In 2013, Central States fell just 40,000 cases short of the 1 million case benchmark.
