Long Beach, CA – The Beachwood Brewing family of special release beers continues to grow with Rye Like An Eagle! This barrel-aged imperial rye brown ale is the first Beachwood brew to be expertly aged in American rye whiskey barrels for one year.
Building on a series of barrel-aged beers that has been growing since 2013, including the releases of Barrel-aged Full Malted Jacket, 8 Buffalo and SADIE, which were all aged in bourbon barrels for one year, Beachwood is shaking things up by using rye whiskey barrels to age this soon-to-be epic ale—Rye Like An Eagle.
“2015 is going to be an exciting year for the Beachwood brand! We are thrilled to continue our barrel-aging program, this time using rye whiskey barrels; we treat the barrels as an ingredient—not just as a conditioning vessel for the beer—so rye barrels allow us to craft a completely different kind of beer than we’ve done before with bourbon barrels,” says Beachwood co-owner and Brewmaster, Julian Shrago.
Rye Like an Eagle will fill your palate with flavors and aromas of dark fruit, tobacco, cocoa, vanilla, and oak. The large portion of rye in the grist leaves a vivid and silky finish.
Rye Like An Eagle will be released as a limited edition beer on Wednesday, March 4th at 11:30am at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach, Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach as well as finer craft beer retailers across Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties.
