On Friday, December 1, Catawba releases two new specialty beers. Friki Tiki Passion Fruit IPA (6.6 percent ABV) is the sixth in a monthly series of fruited IPAs.

Sprecher Brewing Company just added to its growing Belgian-style portfolio with the release of Touch of Blue, a Blueberry Lambic made with whole blueberries. After creating a base ale with Belgian yeast culture and bacteria strains, Sprecher’s brewmaster aged the beer for two years with whole blueberries until it expressed just the right amount of intense floral and dark fruit aromas resulting in a well-balanced, flavorful lambic with a compelling sour finish.

Chula Vista, California-based Novo Brazil Brewing was named the winner of Startup Brewery Challenge 9, a business pitch competition sponsored by Craft Brew Alliance. Held during Wednesday’s Brewbound Session conference in Santa Monica, California, the competition featured five brewery entrepreneurs, who were given four minutes to showcase their beers and business plans in front of a panel of industry judges.
