Representing the largest collection of U.S. beer served in a public tasting event, the 34th annual Great American Beer Festival (GABF) grows even grander this year. Presented by the Brewers Association, GABF will offer 90,000 additional square feet in the tasting hall, allowing 60,000 attendees to sample over 3,500 beers from 750 breweries from all over the country.
In an effort to cut costs amid declining sales, MillerCoors will close one of its eight U.S. brewing facilities, the company announced today. MillerCoors plans to close its Eden, North Carolina location in September 2016. A transition plan is still being finalized, but MillerCoors will “gradually” begin exiting the facility in early 2016, a company spokesman told Brewbound.

The Rhode Island Brewers Guild launched a new campaign this week to promote the local beer industry. The Guild has put together a 30-second television advertisement that will run on local stations from September through November. This weekend The Unknown Brewing Company brewed what they are calling a Supermegaultra Collaboration. The beer “Garage Warrior” is a collaboration IPA between the brewery and almost 80 local homebrewers, including the Carolina BrewMasters, to brew one batch of beer.
