Speakeasy Releases Barrel-Aged Old Godfather Barleywine

Normally content to sit back and rule his empire from a distance, pulling the strings of crime and punishment, the Old Godfather has decided to make a rare appearance, and a gesture of good faith. He’s authorized Speakeasy Ales & Lagers to release a limited batch of Barrel-Aged Old Godfather Barleywine, which has never been bottled or served on draft to the public. Until now, the beer was only used as blending component in Speakeasy’s Syndicate Series.

Upslope Brewing to Release Imperial IPA

Upslope, a pioneer in both craft brewing and canning, is starting 2016 in sprint mode. The Colorado-based craft brewery announces that leading active lifestyle marketing agency Backbone Media will spearhead its communications efforts. To celebrate this new partnership, Backbone will undoubtedly be enjoying Upslope’s Imperial IPA, which, as of Jan. 15, 2016, is available in 12-ounce cans in addition to the always available 19.2-ounce cans.

Evans Brewing Company, which develops and distributes the Evans line of award-winning premium craft ales and lagers, has announced the location of its first branded restaurant, The Public House by Evans Brewing Company, in the downtown SOCO District of Fullerton, California. The Public House, located at 138 W. Commonwealth Avenue, will feature a full roster of Evans craft beers, delicious pub food and live entertainment.

Georgia Lawmaker To File Craft-Friendly Bill

Craft beer is back on the 2016 legislative agenda in Georgia. A forthcoming bill, drafted by Rep. Ron Stephens (R-Savannah), could be introduced as early as next week and include favorable changes to the way small beer and spirits producers operate. Though unfinished, the bill is expected to address brewery tours, retail allowances and food service permits, according to Stephens, who was reached by Brewbound.

Craft Brew Alliance has expanded distribution of the Kona Brewing brand to Brazil, the world’s third-largest beer market, tapping Anheuser-Busch InBev subsidiary Ambev as its importer and distributor. Ambev began distributing Kona’s Longboard Lager and Big Wave Golden Ale throughout Brazil, the world’s third largest beer market, last December, CBA said in a release.

Fort Collins Brewery (FCB) is excited to announce significant changes to packaging artwork, beer recipes and the introduction of canning in March 2016. Most beers will be altered or completely revamped in some fashion. This change, according to General Manager and Co-Owner Tina Peters, is a reflection of where FCB is headed.

New Executive Director Joins Brewery Consulting Firm, First Key

Effective January 2016, Dr. Heather Pilkington takes the lead as Executive Director at First Key Consulting. Heather is a licensed Professional Engineer and received her Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from Western University in Canada. Prior to joining First Key she held positions at Labatt and AB InBev, managing brewing process development and brewery support departments both at the national and international level.
