Founders Brewing will expand its distribution footprint in the Midwest this month, tapping two new states and broadening its presence in a third.

Founders Brewing Co. announced today that they plan to host Founders Fest 2015 on the streets of downtown Grand Rapids once again, from 3-11pm on Saturday, June 20. This is the brewery’s eighth annual outdoor festival celebrating two of the things they love most: beer and music. Founders is expecting 6000+ beer and music lovers to gather on Grandville Avenue between Cherry and Bartlett for the festivities.

In an effort to establish itself as a longstanding, multi-generational craft brewery, Founders Brewing today announced it would sell a minority interest to Mahou San Miguel, Spain’s largest brewer. The Michigan-based craft beer company announced Wednesday it would sell a 30 percent stake to the international beer company. CEO and co-founder Mike Stevens described the decision to sell a minority interest as one that would enable Founders to “ensure a legacy.”

Founders Brewing today announced it has sold a 30 percent stake to Mahou San Miguel Brewery, a Spanish Brewing Company founded in Madrid in 1890. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed. A full press release with more details is below. Official story to follow.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Founders Brewing Co. announced today that it will reintroduce Black Rye, a dry-hopped dark ale brewed with copious amounts of rye malt, as a seasonal release in January 2015 with availability through March.

Founders Brewing is about to make a $35 million bet on its projected growth over the next five years. The Michigan-based craft brewery announced Tuesday that it will expand its production facility in Grand Rapids, adding 57,000 sq. ft. of brewing, fermenting and office space in two phases.

Founders Brewing Co. today announced it will release Dark Penance, an imperial black IPA, in October. The specialty beer will be available throughout the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based brewery’s distribution footprint until the end of the year.
