Harpoon Brewery and Boston’s Seaport Hotel Collaborate on Barrel-Aged Porter

Boston, MA – Continuing its foray into the booming artisanal liquor scene, Boston’s Seaport Hotel has released a new Harpoon Brewery barrel-aged porter using Angel’s Envy barrels. Beginning in 2014, the unique relationship between Angel’s Envy and the Seaport Hotel has resulted in the creation of three private barrel bourbons blended by staff at the Seaport Hotel exclusively for the hotel’s restaurant, TAMO Bistro + Bar. The Seaport Hotel is now bursting onto the craft beer stage with its new Barrel-Aged TAMO Vanilla Bean Porter that is sure to turn heads.

“At the Seaport, we are always coming up with new ways that we can offer the highest degree of excellence for our guests,” said Jim Carmody, Vice President and General Manager at the Seaport Hotel. “With the launch of our new TAMO Vanilla Bean Porter, we hope to provide our guests with a unique experience that can only be found here. It has all the flavors our guests love in our Angel’s Envy bourbon, and more.”

The Barrel-Aged TAMO Vanilla Bean Porter ($6.50) available exclusively on tap at TAMO Bistro + Bar

The Vanilla Bean Porter, aged for six months in two casks that were once home to TAMO’s custom blend of Angel’s Envy bourbon, has strong notes of oak and bourbon and a robust finish of caramel, vanilla, and cherry. Borrowing hints of chocolate and coffee from its origin as a Harpoon Vanilla Bean Porter, TAMO’s Porter has a rich, velvety mouthfeel, a full-bodied head, and a crisp, earthy aroma that stimulates and warms the palate. Craft beer fans are sure to love the depth and complexity of this porter, weighing in at 5.1% ABV.

“We’re proud of the relationship we have with The Seaport Hotel, and I personally look forward to trying the TAMO Porter,” said Angel’s Envy Co-Founder Wes Henderson. “Harpoon Brewery makes excellent beers, and we’re pleased that they’re using our barrels on this release. It sounds like an exceptional match for the flavors our barrels can impart.”

Eric Loring, Beverage Director at the Seaport Hotel, anticipates that the porter will stay on tap at TAMO through July, as supplies are limited and given the success of the hotel’s custom blend of Angel’s Envy bourbon in the past, he expects the ale to be a big hit. The release of this porter marks the Seaport Hotel’s second co-venture with its next-door neighbor and Boston staple Harpoon Brewery: They first released a refreshing TAMO Honey Saison in 2015, and it also marks its fourth collaboration with the Angel’s Envy family. Loring hopes that these strong partnerships will continue far into the future. Impressed by their dedication to excellence and passion for bourbon, the Seaport Hotel selected Angel’s Envy as its top pick when working to create its first signature blend of bourbon for its guests. Now, three years down the line, the partnership has reached a new level of perfection, marked by the completion of the Bourbon Barrel Aged TAMO Vanilla Bean Porter.

About Angel’s Envy

The small batch artisan bourbon is the culmination of the late Master Distiller Lincoln Henderson’s storied career. One of the original pioneers of the premium bourbon and whiskey categories in the U.S., Lincoln came out of retirement to create the world’s finest bourbon on his own terms – with a simple desire to enjoy the art of making whiskey. In addition to the flagship bourbon port cask finish, the Company offers Angel’s Envy Cask Strength and Angel’s Envy Rye. Each Expression exhibits a passion for experimenting outside of conventional norms and producing unique whiskey steeped in tradition, but with an unexpected finish.
