On Tuesday October 4th, Fort Collins Brewery and Farnam House Brewing out of Nebraska will be releasing an ancient-style ale called The Golden Standard. Reinheitsgebot, or German Purity Law, has reigned for 500 years and limits beer brewing to basic ingredients: water, hops, barley and later yeast. The Golden Standard will deviate from the purity law and revisit the pre-reinheitsgebot era of beer expanding outside those main ingredients.
The Unknown Brewing Company, located in Charlotte’s South End and just three blocks from Bank of America Stadium, unleashes its latest ferociously tasty brew ‘Vehopciraptor’ on Friday, October 7. Vehopciraptor, a triple India pale ale (IPA) and Queen City favorite, will be sold in 22-ounce bottles and on draft.

Saint Arnold Brewing Co. (www.saintarnold.com), the oldest craft brewery in Texas, is introducing a new old beer under its Saint Arnold Icon label. Saint Arnold Icon Red – Altbier is the Houston brewery’s take on the traditional Düsseldorf-style Altbier known as the “old and cold” ale that originated in Düsseldorf, Germany. The small Central Florida business soft opened on July 15th but have had difficulty keeping their own beer on tap due to a three-month delay in the arrival of their equipment. Their Brewmaster Travis Smith and Assistant Brewer Amanda Kucker have been crafting small batches, but thirsty patrons have moved the brew more quickly than the team has had the capacity to produce.

Stone Brewing has conjured up another batch of Stone Enjoy By IPA. Instead of opting for the normal Halloween theme of pumpkin spices, Stone harnessed the real, juicy nectar of tangerines. Stone Enjoy By 10.31.16 Tangerine IPA is beginning to arrive this week in select stores, bars and restaurants where Stone beer is sold. Don’t expect it to stick around for long, though. Its plot has been dug, as its enjoy-by fate has already been destined for the hop afterlife.
