Dogfish Head Expands Distribution to Louisiana

Starting this month, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery will begin selling its beer in Louisiana, extending its footprint to 38 states and Washington, D.C.

The Delaware craft brewery will begin shipping beer to Lafayette, Baton Rouge and New Orleans this month, while deliveries to the northern half of the state are slated to begin in February.

“We’re excited to ship our off-centered beers to Dogfish fans in Louisiana and to begin a great and long-lasting relationship with the beer drinkers, retailers, and distributor partners in the state,” Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione said in a press release. “We have our canning and bottling lines pumping out a ton of beer and enough brewing capacity to ensure we can keep retailers well stocked with our off-centered, well-differentiated family of beers for years to come.”

Dogfish Head is partnering with Crescent Crown Distributing, Eagle Distributing, Choice Distributing and Venture Distributing for statewide distribution of its full portfolio of beers, including 60 Minute IPA, 90 Minute IPA, SeaQuench Ale and Flesh & Blood IPA, among others. The company will also allocate limited quantities of specialty release beers and other rare releases to the state throughout the year.

Dogfish Head grew portfolio-wide sales by nearly 20 percent in 2017, thanks in part to opening seven new markets — West Virginia, Kansas, New Mexico, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma and Alabama.

Those new territories accounted for about 30 percent of the Dogfish Head’s new growth in 2017, Calagione shared during a panel discussion at the Beer Marketer’s Insights conference last November. New offerings such as SeaQuench Ale and Flesh & Blood, as well as the introduction of can packages, also helped fuel the company’s growth, he added.

For 2018, Dogfish Head has already announced plans for collaboration beer, Dragons & YumYums tart pale ale, with the Flaming Lips.

More details on Dogfish Head’s expansion into Louisiana are included in the press release below.

Dogfish Head Brews and Louisiana Chews!

For those that enjoy a bite with their Dogfish Head beers, the brewery suggests pairing delicious off-centered pints with classic Louisiana fare.

If you’re tired of coffee and donuts, mix things up with Beignets and Namaste White. The slight spiciness from the peppercorns and the subtle tartness of the lemongrass introduce a nice counterbalance to the sweetness of these classic donuts.

SeaQuench Ale is an excellent choice for seafood pairings and is especially tasty with Shrimp and Grits. The subtle salt, black limes and lime juice in SeaQuench will complement the seasonings used, while the light and tart body counterbalances the richness of the cheese and bacon typically present.

90 Minute IPA is the perfect pairing for Gumbo – a rich and spicy soup. The bold hops complement the spiciness of this dish, while the slightly sweet malt backbone rounds out the flavors through the finish.

Grab the classic 60 Minute IPA to pair with Jambalaya! The assertive West Coast hops used in this IPA are a perfect balance to the spicy Andouille sausage and peppers used in the entrée, and the crisp body of this beer provides a refreshing finish.
