Coronado Brewing is expanding distribution into Michigan per a wholesale agreement with the M1 Group, a network of 11 distributors that operate throughout the state. Beginning today, the brewery’s core series, which includes Coronado Golden, Islander IPA, and Mermaid’s Red, will be available on draft and in bottles in Michigan.
Since marijuana became recreationally legal in Colorado earlier this year, a common fear has emerged among the brewerati: that weed might crowd out what has been up until now a near-insatiable demand for craft beer in the state. While hops and buds both carry the Cannabaceae family name, the thinking has gone that there isn’t enough room in the Centennial State for both genera. But brewers and dispensers aren’t too worried about losing business to one another.

Left Hand has tapped Frank B. Fuhrer Wholesale Co. for coverage in the Steel City and surrounding markets. Left Hand’s new push in Pennsylvania comes after years of solidifying its presence in Philadelphia and Eastern parts of the state. After the Boston Beer Company posted record-breaking fourth quarter revenue gains in 2013, it’s hard to believe that the country’s leading craft brewer could sustain momentum and continue increasing volume and growing sales through the first three months of 2014. But that’s exactly what the makers of Samuel Adams, Twisted Tea and Angry Orchard Cider did in the first quarter of the year, growing revenues 35 percent and core shipment volumes 32 percent.
