Sunoco’s Craft Beer Exchange Program Expands to Charleston, S.C.

In June of last year, Sunoco rolled out the “Craft Beer Exchange,” in an attempt to capitalize on the growth of the craft beer market.

The program, which started at 12 APlus accounts in the Buffalo, NY area has expanded twice since its inception – last November and earlier this year.

Sunoco will now be introducing the program to 13 APlus locations in South Carolina.

Below is the official press release.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Sunoco announced today plans to expand the Craft Beer Exchange at its APlus convenience stores into the Charleston, S.C. market. After success in multiple New York markets, Sunoco APlus’ Craft Beer Exchange will be featured at 13 locations across coastal South Carolina.

The new locations reside in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties. The Craft Beer Exchange began with 12 locations in western New York in the summer of 2011 and expanded throughout the state of New York to over 40 locations.

“We have decided to expand the Craft Beer Exchange to South Carolina based on the success we have had in multiple New York markets over the last six months,” said Wendy Lyman, Sunoco’s beverage category manager. “The Charleston market presents an excellent platform to expand the Craft Beer Exchange at APlus because of our current assets, market density in the region, excellent employees, and a local customer base that enjoys craft beer.”

Started as a pilot program in the Buffalo market in the summer of 2011, the Craft Beer Exchange offers our customers across New York state and now, coastal South Carolina, a unique selection of up to 12 rotating craft beers available to-go in our 64-ounce growlers. Customers looking for variety in their craft beer experience can also create their own six packs from our selection of 12-ounce single bottles for $9.99. Selections change seasonally and include excellent craft beers from well-regarded microbreweries such as Holy City, Sweetwater, Allagash, Abita, Dogfish Head, Victory, New Belgium and Palmetto.
