About Shacksbury Cider
Based in Vergennes, Vermont, Shacksbury Cider makes dry, food-friendly and complex farmhouse-style ciders. Since its founding in 2013, the cidery has won two prestigious Good Food Awards and landed on the menus and tap lists of some of the country’s best restaurants and bars.

Shacksbury makes ciders rooted in the traditions of the orchard — using cider-specific apple varieties picked at peak ripeness. The cidery runs slow, cool fermentations that feature wild yeast, and ages ciders for at least four to twelve months. Shacksbury is also known for its unique Lost Apple Project, an effort to seek out and preserve the diversity of wild apples in Vermont. Every fall, the cider makers forage for the feral, wild, or otherwise forgotten fruit of rural Vermont, searching for apples that have the tannins and flavors — rare in most commercially grown eating apples — to ferment into world class cider. After picking from more than 1,000 unique trees, Shacksbury is propagating several found varieties in its Lost Apple Orchard.
