Second Line Brewing to Begin Packaging Beer in Cans

NEW ORLEANS— Second Line Brewing of Mid City New Orleans has recently expanded their current draft and 12-ounce bottle formats to include 12-ounce and 16-ounce cans. Second Line Brewing has chosen to partner with Wild Goose Canning, of Boulder, Colo., due to the innovate design, flexibility and robustness of their Evolution Series canning line.

Installed in mid-December, the canning line will be used to meet the consumer’s desire to have their favorite beer in a format that is consistent with their lifestyle. According to Mark Logan, COO of Second Line Brewing, “Cans will allow the consumers to carry our beer when walking around in the French Quarter, out on a boat or hiking to a favorite spot.”

Second Line will initially release the Saison Named Desire (a Saison brewed with Moro blood oranges and organic orange zest). Logan said he hopes to have Saison Named Desire on grocery store shelves in the Greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge area by mid-January and hopes to roll out the brewery’s Batture Blonde Ale in time for Mardi Gras.  Mark Logan, with a formal education in Polymer Chemistry and molecular biology, said that the Wild Goose is a great compliment to the brewery’s current bottling machine and should be able to meet or exceed their current quality and dissolved oxygen level standards– the latter being extremely critical for flavor stability and product shelf life.
