South Burlington, VT — In medieval times, the celebration of darkness and light was commemorated with gilded goblets brimming with seasonal brews. This holiday tradition is the inspiration behind Feast of Fools, a limited release Raspberry Stout from the Magic Hat Brewing Company. To-date, Feast of Fools has only been available in Vermont at the Magic Hat Brewery and Artifactory and over the years, developed a cult-like following among Vermonters.
This November, for the first time, 6,000 22-ounce bottles of Feast of Fools will be available at select retail locations nationwide. Magic Hat will donate $5,000 from its Feast of Fools sales to the Vermont Foodbank, Vermont’s largest hunger relief organization serving more than 86,000 people in need.
While the beer is extremely limited, once discovered, beer drinkers will enjoy a deliciously dark and festive stout with a sweet nose and raspberry flavor, supported by cocoa and dark chocolate from the malts. With an ABV of 6% and 28 IBUs, Feast of Fools has become a popular beer in high demand.
“We are extremely excited about this year’s batch of Feast of Fools, and even more excited that we will be able to ship a small portion of this limited release offering beyond the borders of Vermont,” said Head Brewer Chris Rockwood. “Better yet, we have partnered with the Vermont Foodbank, so that a little bit of the enjoyment we are able to share with all of you will also help fight hunger throughout our community.”
For those wanting the first taste of this rare holiday beer, a celebratory launch event will take place on Friday, November 7th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Magic Hat Brewery and Artifactory in South Burlington, VT. Attendees, who will be the first to sample and purchase Feast of Fools, will also meet the brewers and artists behind the beer and enjoy delicious dessert pairings from local food purveyors.
