Hopworks Urban Brewery Introduces New Year Round Cider and Seasonal IPA

Hopworks Cider and Summer Seasonal Beer

Portland, OR – Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB) today announces two new releases that explore the bounty of the Pacific Northwest. HUB’s CranPerry Cider is available in 22oz bottles and draft throughout HUB’s Northwest distribution network. Pig War White IPA is now available in 16oz cans, 22oz bottles and on draft throughout HUB’s distribution.

CranPerry Cider:

HUB’s CranPerry is a new year-round pear cider featuring fruit sourced entirely from the Pacific Northwest. CranPerry is a stunning pink-orange hue from the addition of cranberry. The cranberry, sourced in part from fellow B Corporation Starvation Alley Farms, provides a thirst-quenching tart complexity that complements the semi-dry pear foundation. CranPerry clocks in at 5.5% abv.

CranPerry, HUB’s second cider package, follows the release of HUB Hard Cider in cans and bottles in May of 2015. HUB received their winery license in August of 2014. Since then, HUB brewers have made an effort to quench their thirst for both beer and cider with array of experimental ciders at both pub locations.

Pig War White IPA:

Pig War White IPA returns as HUB’s summer seasonal. This refreshing IPA showcases Hard Red Spring Wheat grown at organic certified Twin Oaks Farm on San Juan Island. The farm cultivates 25 acres of Friar variety wheat. This specialty grain imparts tart flavors, medium body and signature wheat haze that compliment layers of fruity, citrus hop flavors and a crisp bitterness. The beer is also made with organic malted barley from Oregon and local hops. Pig War is 6.0% abv and 60 IBU.

The name Pig War commemorates the standoff in 1859 between American and British authorities over San Juan Island, where the beer’s wheat is grown. The only casualty of this 15 year standoff was one wayward pig.
