Longtime Heineken USA chief sales officer Jim Sloan will retire from the company next month after 20 years with the Dutch brewing giant.

“Jim has been an outstanding leader and a true champion of Heineken USA,” CEO Maggie Timoney said in a statement. “His vision, dedication, and ability to inspire his teams have left a lasting impact on our business, and we are deeply grateful for his contributions over his tenure.”

To backfill Sloan at the top of its sales organization, Heineken USA has tapped Bill Renspie, former chief customer officer of Constellation Brands’ Beer Division. He departed Constellation in March after 23 years with the company.

“Bill’s proven track record, deep industry expertise and passion for people and performance make him the right leader to build on Jim’s legacy,” Timoney said.

Sloan has held the chief sales officer title since early 2019, when he returned to Heineken USA after nine years leading Phusion Projects, the maker of Four Loko. Phusion Projects promoted Sloan from EVP to president in 2013, according to a press release.

Before he joined Phusion Projects, Sloan spent 16 years in sales leadership roles at Heineken USA. His last day is slated for October 1.

Sloan is the second c-suite member to depart Heineken USA in less than a year. Former chief marketing officer Johnnie Cahill left the company after more than a decade in November 2024. He was succeeded by Allison Payne, who came from Heineken’s Amsterdam headquarters.

At the global level, president of Heineken Americas Marc Busain left the company last week after three decades.

Year-to-date (YTD) through August 10, dollar sales of the Heineken USA portfolio have declined 8.7%, to $930 million, at off-premise retailers tracked by market research firm Circana. Volume, measured in case sales, has declined 8.8% YTD. Heineken USA’s share of category dollars has declined 0.22%, to 3.4%, according to Circana.

The U.S. arm of the Dutch beer maker ranks as the sixth-largest vendor in the category by YTD dollar sales.

In addition to the Heineken brand, the company’s U.S. portfolio includes Dos Equis, Tecate, Red Stripe and Amstel Light.
