Dogfish Head Partners with Inaugural Firefly Music Festival

Dogfish Head has partnered with Firefly Music Festival, a new East Coast event that brings over 40 indie, punk and electronic acts to the Dover International Speedway for three days of music in July.

To commemorate the occasion, Dogfish Head has brewed up 100 barrels of Firefly Ale, and English-style pale ale brewed with Marris Otter barley, English heritage hops and Calypso hops.

“The beer plays off of the question ‘which country invented punk rock?’ by bringing ingredients from those two countries into one beer,” said Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione.

Calagione is no stranger to music-inspired beers. His music series features collaborative branding efforts with Miles Davis, Pearl Jam, Robert Johnson and Deltron 3030.

“These collaborations are our way of extending our grassroots reach but doing it in an authentic way,” he said. “The Firefly deal makes sense for both parties and its right in our backyard.”

The Firefly Music Festival will take place July 20-22 in Dover, DE. Musical acts include The Killers, The Black Keys, Cake and Girl Talk among others.
