Backlash Beer Founders Target Younger Demographic

Backlash BeerBOSTON — A Boston-based beer company wants you to “stand up against the predictable,” and join the “Backlash.”

Helder Pimentel and Maggie Foley, the twenty-somethings who founded Backlash Beer Company say they are targeting a younger demographic with the brand.

“I just wanted a beer that I could relate to,” said Pimentel. “Something I could pick up, think was cool and something that felt younger. That is the direction we are taking our branding.”

Their first beer, Groundswell, hit the Boston market last week. A release party was held at Sunset Grill and Tap in Allston, the first bar to pour the Belgian style Blonde ale sat down with the founders, to learn more about the brand, how they got started in the beer business and what their goals are with Backlash.
