In honor of what would have been Tony Gwynn’s 55th birthday, AleSmith Brewing Co. released its “Hall of Fame” brew on Saturday, May 9. An imperial version of its .394 Pale Ale, the specialty release was created as a tribute to the late Tony Gwynn by AleSmith Owner and CEO Peter Zien.
While much of the craft beer industry is celebrating American Craft Beer Week, Geaghan Bros. Brewing Co. had their own local celebration today as they celebrated the official opening of their brewery production facility expansion in Brewer. The celebration included an official ribbon cutting, and Brewer’s Deputy Mayor Bev Uhlenhake presented the Geaghan Brothers Larry, Peter, and Pat along with Larry’s son Andrew a key to the City.

Empire Brewing Company broke ground this past Friday, May 8th 2015, to begin construction on the Empire Farmstead Brewery – a new manufacturing and agri-tourism facility in Cazenovia, New York. When completed, the 28,000 square-foot Empire Farmstead Brewery will be the largest farm brewery of-its-kind in New York State, with a major agri-tourism component.
Widmer Brothers Brewing today announced the release of its new summer seasonal offering, Hefe Shandy. Hefe Shandy pays homage to the brewery’s flagship beer, Hefe, playing on the ritual of adding a lemon to the rim, which dates back to the creation of the beer in 1986.
Everybody’s Brewing will be adding a third style of beer to their can lineup with the addition of the Local Logger Lager. The cans will be available first at their Brewpub in White Salmon, WA starting May 15th, followed by the Portland premiere at Belmont Station on May 26, and a second release at Hollywood Beverage on May 29th.
California’s craft beer industry still has a way to go before it can hold a candle to its celebrated wine trade, but it’s certainly trending in the right direction. In 2014, the market for craft beer in the state continued to flourish, contributing more than $6.5 billion to the economy, according to a newly released report from the California Craft Brewers Association (CCBA).
It took just six months for Anheuser-Busch InBev to expand distribution for 10 Barrel Brewing, the Bend, Ore. craft brewery it purchased last November. The company today announced it would launch in Colorado this month, the fourth state where its beers are currently sold.
