Cascade Brewing released its Pêche Fumé 2017 project today. The Northwest sour ale is a blend of wheat ales brewed with cherrywood smoked malt and aged in oak barrels for up to 14 months with Northwest-grown peaches. The limited offering is available in 750 ml bottles and on draft through Cascade’s regular distribution channels, as well as in-house at both its Portland-area pubs.

The Michigan Brewers Guild is pleased with today’s news that Gov. Rick Snyder signed House Bill 4667 and Senate Bill 440 — sponsored by Rep. Brandt Iden and Sen. Goeff Hansen — which will change the name of the Michigan Grape and Wine Industry Council to the Michigan Craft Beverage Council. The bills also will expand the council to include Michigan wine, beer, hard cider and spirits. The bills are now Public Acts 154 and 155 of 2018.
Less than one year after Coronado Brewing acquired a majority stake in nearby Monkey Paw Brewing, the San Diego-based regional craft beer producer today put the smaller outfit up for sale. The decision to sell its interest in the business comes about one month after Monkey Paw founder Scot Blair — an outspoken figure in the San Diego craft beer scene who also owns the popular Hamilton’s Tavern and South Park Brewing Company ventures — filed a lawsuit against Monkey Paw for breach of contract.
