Known for crafting boldly hopped brews including West Coast IPA® and Palate Wrecker®, Green Flash Brewing Co. has successfully pushed the IBU envelope to achieve extreme hop flavor. This month, the brewery will kick off their 3rd annual Hop Odyssey series – a national beer program which focuses on exploring new hop varietals, fresh combinations and innovative brewing methods.

Brewbound is pleased to announce that Green Flash Brewing co-founders Lisa and Mike Hinkley will speak at the upcoming Brewbound Session, being held in San Diego on Thursday, Dec. 4. In a conversation with Brewbound editor Chris Furnari, the Hinkley’s will discuss Green Flash’s national distribution strategy and explain the impetus for expanding the company’s brewing operations to the east coast.

Green Flash Brewing announced Monday it would acquire Alpine Beer Company, a small San Diego-area craft brewery known for its highly coveted hop-forward offerings. Although specific terms of the deal were not disclosed, Green Flash co-founder Mike Hinkley told Brewbound that the Alpine’s founders, Pat and Val McIlhenney, received cash and equity in Green Flash Brewing as part of the transaction.

San Diego’s Green Flash Brewing today announced it will begin construction on its second location, a 58,000 sq. ft. brewing facility in Virginia Beach that will eventually be capable of producing 100,000 barrels of beer per year. Earlier this week, Green Flash Brewing announced a “handshake agreement” with St-Feuillien whereby the Belgium-based brewery would produce, bottle and ship West Coast IPA for broader distribution throughout Europe. In an interview with Brewbound, Green Flash co-founder Mike Hinkley said he wasn’t sure how to exactly define the new partnership.

Forty-nine states down, one to go. This July, Green Flash Brewing Co. will expand distribution to Hawaii, per an exclusive agreement with Paradise Beverages Inc. (Par Bev), leaving only one state, Utah, standing in its way of becoming a fully fledged national brand.

Green Flash Brewing Co. today announced its plans to expand distribution in Michigan in an effort to meet statewide demand. The San Diego-based brewery, which entered southern parts of the state in October, has inked deals with each of the 11 distributors that make up a statewide beer distribution network known as the M1 Group.

Green Flash Brewing isn’t a nationally distributed craft brand quite yet, but it’s getting close.
