MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — Woodchuck® Hard Cider’s latest creation, Gumption, will soon be available on tap across the US. Gumption continues Woodchuck’s history of authenticity and handcrafting the finest ciders using premium ingredients. When Woodchuck introduced the U.S. market to craft cider 24 years ago, it took gumption to follow their own path. Craft cider caught on, and today, Woodchuck continues to lead the craft cider industry, with a passionate focus on innovation, quality and its Vermont roots.
Legendary showman PT Barnum once noted, “Everybody drank cider-spirits called ‘gumption.’” Woodchuck’s Gumption cider celebrates the Spirit of PT Barnum and those who have the gumption to follow their own path.
“The word gumption means initiative, resourcefulness, spunk and guts, and that’s what Woodchuck is all about, from our humble beginnings in a Vermont two-car garage to the industry leader we are today,” says President and CEO Dan Rowell. “Gumption has been a huge hit with consumers and critics alike since we introduced bottles in March, and now we’re thrilled to bring this amazing cider to taps across the US.”
Gumption is handcrafted in Vermont using a blend of fresh juice from common eating apples and European bittersweet cider apples for a unique drinking experience. This cider has a sweet apple aroma with a fresh upfront apple taste and dry finishing notes. Gumption will be available on draught starting May 1, 2015 with an ABV of 5.5%.
“Gumption is a cider worth celebrating, so we’re hosting exclusive launch parties at 21 venues across the US during the month of May,” says Marketing Director Bridget Blacklock. “We are truly proud of Gumption and can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

Innovation is at the core of everything Woodchuck’s cider makers do, which is why they continuously strive to create unique new ciders using the finest ingredients.
