Widmer Brothers Brewing Launches Hefe Berry Lime

PORTLAND, Ore. – Widmer Brothers is gearing up for the start of summer – launching a new beer, Hefe Berry Lime, and announcing the ambitious event line up of the brewery’s annual 100 Days of Hefe summer celebration.

This is the fourth year of 100 Days of Hefe, where the brewery hosts 100 local events in the Portland area from Memorial Day to Labor Day. 100 Days of Hefe celebrates the brewery’s flagship beer, Hefe, and gives fans multiple opportunities to meet members of the brewing team and brewery co-founder Rob Widmer, and opportunities to win prizes like custom Hefe bikes, Hefe BBQ grills, and Hefe golf bags throughout the summer.

The full 100 Days line-up can be found here, and will kick off with an event this Sunday, May 28, at the venerable Horse Brass Pub, which is one of the longest running Hefe accounts. The event kicks-off at 4:00 p.m., and there will be Hefe specials, and one of the custom Hefe bikes will be raffled off.

Widmer Brothers’ Original American Hefe will be prominently featured during the 100 Days of Hefe, as will the brewery’s new Hefe variations, including the beer launched today, Hefe Berry Lime.

Hefe Berry Lime is a playful take on Widmer Brothers Hefe, brewed with a blend of Oregon marionberries, blackberries, lime, and kaffir lime leaves. The result is a tart and refreshing, wheat beer that is perfect for the warmer summer months ahead.

“It was a lot of fun coming up with Hefe Berry Lime in our Innovation Brewery and to see it in six packs now,” says Innovation Brewmaster Tom Bleigh. “Widmer Brothers has played with its Hefe recipe for over 20 years – notably with Widberry in the nineties – and it is great to carry on the tradition. Hefe Berry Lime shares some similarities with Widberry, but it is unique and modern at the same time.”

Widmer Brothers is hosting a Hefe Berry Lime “Meet the Brewer” party on Thursday, May 25, at the Widmer Brothers Pub from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The Meet the Brewer event will feature beer and food specials, a Hefe bike raffle, and Hefe flights including other Hefe varietals Hefe X Mosiac, Hefe X Ekuanot, and Hefe Hopfruit.

About Widmer Brothers Brewing

Widmer Brothers Brewing helped create the Pacific Northwest craft beer movement in 1984 when founders Kurt and Rob Widmer, then in their 20s, began brewing unique interpretations of traditional German beer styles. In 1986, Widmer Brothers Brewing introduced the original American-style Hefeweizen, which elevated the brewery to national acclaim. Since then, the brewery’s iconic Hefe has grown to become Oregon’s favorite craft beer. For more than three decades, Widmer Brothers has continued to push the boundaries of craft beer. Based in Portland, Oregon, the brewery currently brews a variety of beers including Hefe, Upheaval IPA, Steel Bridge Porter, Drop Top Amber, Replay IPA, PDX Pils, and a full seasonal lineup. Additionally, the brewery continues to make a series of limited edition, small-batch beers available in Oregon and at the Widmer Brothers Pub in North Portland.
