Vermont’s Switchback Brewing to Pour Smoked Beers at Craft Brewers Conference

BURLINGTON, Vt. — After a successful, limited run in its home state earlier this year – including some sell outs – Vermont brewery Switchback is sharing its smoked beer series, Flynn on Fire, with craft beer lovers nationwide at the annual Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America® April 30-May 3, 2018, in Nashville. The Flynn on Fire series includes three smoked beers: Gates of Helles, Blackstrap Ale, and Smoked Märzen.

The beers will be poured at two events during the conference.

  • Pouring New England, an event at the City Tap House, Nashville, May 1 beginning at 10:30 am and celebrating the region as a trailblazer in craft brewing. All three Flynn on Fire beers will be on draught during the Vermont Brewers Tap Takeover.

Switchback Brewery, home of Vermont’s number one draught beer – Switchback Ale – for over 10 years, is known as the state’s go-to-brewer for great tasting, unpretentious beers. The brewery reimagines flavor profiles down to the minute detail to assure consistent quality and taste. Since beers are regularly compared to food, the Flynn on Fire series takes beer flavor in a new direction.

“It’s like eating and drinking at the same time,” Switchback Tap Manager Sarah Diaz often explains to customers trying the beers for the first time. “The smokiness is subtle but maintains drinkability and balance – two of Switchback’s cornerstone attributes. People are sometimes reluctant to try these beers at first, but after one sip, they’re pleasantly surprised.”

“Smoked beers aren’t new to the world,” said Founder and Master Brewer Bill Cherry. “They’re popular in Europe, in particular. We’re excited to bring our interpretation of this unique beer flavor to the U.S. and very pleased with their reception in our home state. It’s time to expand them to a wider audience.”

About Switchback Brewing Company

Switchback Brewing Company was founded in 2002 by master brewer Bill Cherry and his longtime friend Jeff Neiblum. To maximize complexity and flavor, the beer is left unfiltered and carbonated during fermentation by the yeast itself, creating a 100% naturally conditioned beer. In 2017, Switchback Brewing Co. officially became the first 100% employee-owned brewery in New England via an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The move keeps the brewery locally owned and operated, still at its original home in the South End of Burlington, VT. Switchback beers are distributed throughout New England and in New York City.
