Two Roads to Host ‘Be a CONNartist’ Contest

Stratford, CT – Two Roads is proud to be in Connecticut, a state that has contributed vastly to industrial innovation in American and the world. In 1939, Igor Sikorsky flew the first helicopter right down the street from our brewery. New Haven defined the way we eat food with the inventions of the hamburger and the lollipop, Bridgeport made the first submarine for the navy, and Danbury hats and Connecticut River Valley clocks were the height of sophistication. The list could go on for pages about what Connecticut has contributed to our society.

To celebrate our manufacturing history, on May 1st Two Roads inaugurated its “Be a CONNartist” contest. Artists 21+ from MA, CT, RI and NY can create any art form (watercolors to sculpture, etc.) depicting Connecticut’s contributions to manufacturing, past and present. After all, Two Roads brewery is located in the former US Baird facility, built in 1911 to house James Baird’s factory that fabricated machines to make blue jean rivets and buttons, Model T Cylinders, hat pins, zippo lighter components, and many other items for everyday life in America from 1911-2006.

Rules and submission guidelines are on our website www.tworoadsbrewing.com/CONNartists. Artists will have until August 31st to submit their art and the winner will have their art displayed on a 30’ high fermenter inside the brewery and win a $500 Two Roads gift card. The runner-up will have their art on a poster at the brewery and receive a $250 gift card. Both will be unveiled at a large party in the fall.
