Florida-headquartered Sunkey Beverage Holdings has reached an agreement to acquire Texas-based Silver Eagle Beverages, an independent Anheuser-Busch InBev (A-B) wholesaler.
The sale includes all of Silver Eagle’s business activities in Bexar county, and 12 additional counties across Southwest Texas, as well as Silver Eagle’s San Antonio corporate office and warehouse, Del Rio warehouse and Carrizo Springs depot, according to a press release.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close after regulatory approvals and “other customary closing conditions,” according to the release. Silver Eagle will continue to operate under its own name.
Silver Eagle distributes A-B and Constellation products, along with other domestic and import brands. Beyond A-B’s portfolio, its craft beer and cider brands include Austin Eastciders, Tilray-owned Breckenridge Brewery and Shock Top; Firestone Walker, New Holland Brewing, Sierra Nevada and several Texas-based craft brands. Its additional beyond beer portfolio includes offerings such as AriZona Spiked, JuneShine, Molson Coors’ 2 Hoots, Mark Anthony Brands’ Cayman Jack and more.
Sunkey is operated by Tim Mitchell, who is also the CEO of Suncoast Beverage Sales, another A-B and Constellation wholesaler with operations across Southwest Florida. Sunkey also has outlets in Arkansas and Texas, according to the release.
“[Silver Eagle chairman and CEO] John Nau and the Silver Eagle team have built an amazing business in the greater San Antonio area. We look forward to continuing their legacy of providing the best beverages and quality service through a dedicated team of employees,” Mitchell said in the release.
“Sunkey is the ideal group to acquire the San Antonio-area territory. They are family-owned and as a current member of the Anheuser-Busch wholesaler family have a clear understanding of the beverage industry,” Nau added.
Nau previously sold Silver Eagle’s Houston territory in 2019 to private investment firm Redwood Capital Investments. The deal included distribution rights across three Texas counties (Ft. Bend, Montgomery and Harris), as well as Silver Eagle Houston’s corporate offices and warehouse and warehouse operations in Conroe, Cypress, Rosenberg and Pasadena.
