Newburyport, MA — What started as an experiment by founder Steve Sanderson, High Waters has become more of a philosophical investigation into what a hoppy session ale can be. We love session beers with their full flavor and all-day drinkability. So you can enjoy 2 or 3 without ending up on the floor!
The series name comes from the realization that we’ve run out of room in our current brewery. Much like a growing kid’s pants that’ve crept up over the ankles, we squeeze these small production batches into our already super-tight brewing schedule. Long-time fans may know how much we love our flannel trousers, and this is a nod to that history.
So as we embark on this exploration, we’re setting a few ground rules for the High Water series:
- Lower alcohol, under 5% alcohol
- Hop forward approach
- Stay playful and explore how individual hop characteristics effect flavor.
If something works out it may become a core beer in the future. So kick back and enjoy a few while we play around with new beer recipes that maximize flavor while maintaining drinkability.
