Notch Brewing Releases Saison in Six Packs, Celebrates Anniversary

IPSWICH, MA – Notch Brewing, brewers of American Session Beer, will release their Notch Saison in six packs on March 15th and celebrate two years of brewing. Notch Saison is the third year round offering from Notch, and will complement their flagship Notch Session Pils and Notch Session Ale.

Notch Saison will now be available in 6-pack, 12 oz. bottles

Notch will celebrate it’s anniversary at Firebrand Saints in Cambridge on March 15 from 5:30 to 7:30PM.

Saison was originally brewed by farmers to slake the thirst of seasonal workers (les saisonniers) in Belgium, but this refreshing beer had a lower alcohol content that is not often seen in today’s modern saison. The worker’s saisons previous to WWI were often referred to as courante saison (everyday saison) due to their easy drinking nature.

Notch returns the saison to its roots not only in alcohol content, but also by using local ingredients much like the Belgian farmhouse brewers. As each farmhouse used ingredients locally available, each saison had its own character. In this locally sourced spirit, Notch Saison uses wheat malted by Valley Malt in Hadley Massachusetts.
