Narragansett Releases Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Narragansett Beer today announces the rerelease of Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout, a unique collaboration between two Rhode Island staples. Introduced in December 2013 as Narragansett’s first-ever “Hi Neighbor Mash-Up,” Narragansett Autocrat is a custom blend of Narragansett’s bittersweet milk stout with coffee extract from the famed Autocrat Coffee, the key ingredient in the Ocean State’s beloved official drink: coffee milk.

“Almost every Rhode Islander grew up drinking Autocrat coffee milk or has enjoyed it alongside their hot wieners after a night at the bars,” said Mark Hellendrung, president of Narragansett Beer. “After selling out of the initial release of Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout in just one week last December, we received hundreds of requests from around the country to release the beer again and so we made it happen. Anyone who loves great beer and wants to share in a Rhode Island tradition will really enjoy this beer. As they’ve been saying at Autocrat for over 100 years, ‘a swallow will tell you.”

The combination of Narragansett’s full-bodied stout and the robust flavor of dark Autocrat coffee delivers a flavorful and smooth brew that exudes notes of roasted barley, chocolate malt and rich crystal malt. Brewed under the supervision of award-winning Brewmaster Sean Larkin, Narragansett’s Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout provides just the right amount of bitterness to balance the sweet notes of the malts and milk sugar.

To celebrate the rerelease of Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout, Narragansett Beer will host a launch party in conjunction with another quintessential Rhode Island favorite, James Beard Award-winning Olneyville New York System, home of the famous Rhode Island hot wiener, traditionally served with coffee milk, of course.

This season’s first taste of Narragansett Autrocat Coffee Milk Stout will be served alongside New York System hot wieners at a launch party to be held in Providence, RI on Saturday, October 4, free of charge to the public. More information about the event can be found on Narragansett’s Facebook page.

Narragansett’s Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout will be available starting the week of September 29, 2014 through the end of December 2014 in six packs of 16-ounce tallboy cans and 12 packs of 12-ounce glass bottles, priced between $8.99 – $9.49 SRP per six pack. The beer is 5.3 percent Alcohol By Volume and 30 IBUs (International Bitterness Units). Autocrat Coffee Milk Stout will be distributed throughout Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., New Jersey, North Carolina and Florida.
