Marin, Calif. — Two words — Mosaic Hops. If you’re a hophead, you probably know it as the God Hop. If you’re a fan of craft beer, you’ve been reading about it for years.
The Marin Brewing Company is thrilled to be rolling out our fist Mosaic hopped IPA on October 20th.
In 2013, Mosiac Hops were dubbed the hot new hop, and we placed our order for these hops when they were first introduced. Now, the hops are ours and we’ve turned them into The Market IPA, a collaboration brew with The Market, a food community located in downtown San Francisco.
To make this beer, brewmaster, Arne Johnson sought out a partnership with long time friend, and renowned chef Ken Turner. Turner was previously the Executive Chef at Zuni Café, and is currently the Vice President of Foods at The Market. “The idea behind The Market IPA was to create something very food friendly. Ken and I were not looking to create another bitter hopwater IPA,” said Johnson.
The resulting beer is a lighter more refreshing IPA. According to Johnson, the new IPA is very drinkable. ”It contains no crystal malt, but rather several different varies of American 2-row malt to help the hops shine,”.
Johnson says Mosaic Hops bring some serious tropical notes and grapefruit flavors. Nothing he’s ever tasted offers such a unique and complex blend of floral, tropical and fruity characteristics.
In the end Johnson and Turner settled on just two hops, Mosaic and Chinook. And you’ll be able to sample their work in just a matter of days. We would love for you to stop by, and let us know what you think.
