Gun Hill Opens New Tavern in Historic Port Morris, Bronx

Bronx, NY – Gun Hill Brewing Company today announced the opening of their first full-service tavern, located at 780 East 133rd Street in Port Morris, Bronx. Opening Day is set for November 4, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.

Featuring an on-site still and 100% New York-made spirits, beer, cider and wine, the warm, inviting, modern space will include 20 Draft lines, including 14 Gun Hill Beers; a full pub-food menu; multiple wide-screen TV’s; classic brunch offerings on weekends and soon, house-made ice cream.

A wide, horseshoe-shaped bar and an active on-site still, embody the rugged charm of this historic neighborhood—a waterfront enclave with a mix of industrial and residential properties.

“We’re thrilled to be opening our first full-service tavern in Port Morris,” says founder and Gun Hill Brewing Company partner Dave Lopez. “We’re honored to partner with Port Morris Distillery and to be part of this growing community of brewers, purveyors and pioneers,” he adds. “It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a pint, grab a burger, watch a game and sample some of New York’s finest beers, wines, ciders and spirits. We hope this will become the go-to spot in the neighborhood.”

Gun Hill Tavern is now the second location under the Gun Hill umbrella, joining Gun Hill Brewing Company at 3227 Laconia Avenue in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx. Gun Hill Tavern is conveniently located near the First Avenue Bridge (Willis Avenue Bridge), the Triboro Bridge (RFK Bridge) and three stops on the #6 train from Manhattan.

About Gun Hill Brewing Company
Gun Hill Brewing Co., the first production brewery in the Bronx since 1961, opened its doors in January 2014. The brewery’s co-founders, Kieran Farrell and Dave Lopez met on a baseball field in early 2004 playing on a men’s semi-pro baseball team, the New York City ThunderDogs. With New York City’s brewing revolution strongly focused in the borough of Brooklyn, Kieran and Dave decided to use their strong ties to the Bronx to expand some of that focus up north. While Gun Hill lends its name to the brewery, the values and personality come from those colonists that dragged a cannon up a hill in defense of their ideals and forced a British army to turn on its heels.

Known by dedicated craft fans for their high-quality brews, superior ingredients and unparalleled taste, Gun Hill Brewing won a Gold Medal at the Great American Beer Festival for “Void of Light” in 2014, and recently partnered with the cast of Broadway phenomenon Hamilton and The Happy Hour Guys to create “Rise Up Rye” now sold at the Richard Rogers Theater and with limited national distribution.
